2015 EDITION

Presenting the second-edition of the world's most beloved annual banjo project, the Banjo Babes 2015 Calendar and Album! The Banjo Babes Calendar & Album (and National Tour) is a collective, grassroots celebration of professional women banjo players.

The project happens each year, and each edition features over a dozen artists. Focused on promoting the music of women banjo artists - the project celebrates diversity, welcomes all, and cannot wait to share this album with the world. The calendar and album feature songs and images provided by each of the artists each year in conjunction with a new theme.

The mission of the Banjo Babes Calendar & Album is to celebrate the music of women who play banjo by creating and sustaining one of the most comprehensive, inclusive and diverse annual compilation anthologies via a fun, professional, and empowering project that includes artistic photography in a calendar and world-class music on an album.
 

The 2015 edition, themed "The Future," features fifteen artists on a professional compilation album and thematic wall calendar. Released officially on December 10th, 2014, this release of the Banjo Babes Calendar & Album is now available for purchase.

Artists in the 2015 project include Megan McKamey, Evie Ladin, Kendl Winter (The Lowest Pair), Susie Monick (formerly of Buffalo Gals), Erin Inglish, Grace Van't Hof (& Cryin' Time), Maggie MacKay (The Local Memories), Emily Dowden, Laurie Michelle Caner (Hey Mavis), Jami Lynn, Dani Aubert (Patchy Sanders), Amber Rogers (Scenic Roots), Allison de Groot, Donna Lynn Caskey, and Lindsay Rilko (Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys).

Other artists featured in the past have included Moira Smiley, Laurie Shook (of Shook Twins), Janna Kim (based in Uzbekistan), Katie West (a.k.a. Katie Euliss of Truckstop Honeymoon and 40 Watt Dream), Hayley Thomas (of Tarweed Two & the Two-Time Boys, and Hayburner), Chloey Davis, Megan Saunders (of The Driftless), Chris Avetta, and Sharon Martinson (of The Littlest Birds).

During February and March, 2015, many of the artists will take to the road as part of the Banjo Babes annual showcase tour. From Berkeley to Boston, these banjo-weilding ladies will entertain the nation as part of double- and triple- bill shows celebrating everything five-string. Presenting the first-edition of the much-anticipated, grassroots banjo release featuring all women artists - the Banjo Babes 2014 Compilation Album! The calendar and album feature songs and images provided by each of the artists each year in conjunction with a new theme, all to promote women who play banjo. Focused on promoting the music of women banjo artists - the project celebrates diversity, welcomes all, and cannot wait to share this album with the world.

In July, the project raised over $9,000 through a crowd-funding campaign to pre-sell merchandise. Now that the efforts are off the ground in the first year, the organizer plans on it happening each year in perpetuity, with each edition featuring over a dozen artists.

The mission of the Banjo Babes Calendar & Album is to celebrate the music of women who play banjo by creating and sustaining one of the most comprehensive, inclusive and diverse annual compilation anthologies via a fun, professional, and empowering project that includes artistic photography in a calendar and world-class music on an album.
